Incidents of crime on the decline in the Ashanti region – Police

The Ashanti Region has recorded a thousand five hundred and twenty five (1,525) cases of crime in the first quarter of the year 2017.

This represents a marginal decline in the figures of the same period of the year 2016 which stood at a thousand six-hundred (1600) cases.

The Ashanti regional police command disclosed the figures when the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensa paid a visit to police installations in the Ashanti region as part of his familiarization tour among the security services in the region.

The commander DCOP Ken Yeboah pointed out however that incidents of armed robbery in the region had not changed drastically though the robbers had shifted focus “from the highways to snatching cars within the city and the metropolis”.

He nonetheless assured “we are doing our best to ensure that we reduce it to the barest minimum.”

DCOP Ken Yeboah has had a baptism of fire recently over the blatant display of hooliganism by Delta Forces, the private security detail of the governing New Patriotic Party after they pulled out and manhandled the regional security liaison officer and subsequently launched an attack on a high court setting their members free from lawful custody.
