‘Imperfect’ Charlotte Osei reason for errors on nomination forms – Ayariga

Disqualified presidential hopeful and flagbearer of the All People’s Congress Hassan Ayariga has blamed EC Chair Charlotte Osei for his disqualification from the presidential race.

Speaking to Ghanaweb after his disqualification last week, Hassan Ayariga said Charlotte Osei, who at the time was the boss of National Commission for Civil Education (NCCE) failed to educate the electorate on the election process, a situation he believes led to irregularities on the nomination forms of some 13 presidential hopefuls leading to their exclusion from the list of contenders.

According to Hassan Ayariga, if the EC chair had been more efficient at her job as NCCE boss, all the anomalies would have been avoided.

The Electoral Commission on Monday, October 10 2016, disqualified some 13 presidential hopefuls from contesting the 2016 polls due to irregularities with their submitted nomination forms.

A number of the contenders who were disqualified have threatened legal action against the EC insisting they met the requirements as stipulated in the Constitutional Instrument (C.I) 94 meant for the conduct of the elections.
