I’m the “unifier” NPP needs as chairman – Ntim

Twice-defeated chairman contestant of the biggest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Stephen Ntim, has told XYZ Breakfast Show Host, Moro Awudu, on Friday that he is the right and best person to lead the party as Chairman ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Ntim says he has “rebranded” himself as a “unifier” and does not intend using his position as Chairman to push the agenda of any particular faction within the NPP.

“…I’m not going to be chairman for anybody; I’m just going to be chairman for the New Patriotic Party. Everything hinges on unity,” he underscored.

He said: “…The NPP’s grassroots, the Delegates have come to the full realisation that Ntim is the best person for this job”.

According to him, “…From the reactions that I’m getting from around the country and at this point in time…everybody is saying Ntim has now emerged as the party’s candidate for chairmanship”.

Asserting his independence of the factions within the party, Mr. Ntim drove home the point that: “I‘m contesting for this position not in the capacity as somebody’s boy or man, but as the compromise, consensus candidate who is better-placed and best-placed to unify the party”.

The former first Vice Chairman of the Party will be fighting incumbent Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey; former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Nii Ayikoi Otoo and party financier and businessman Paul Afoko.

Mr. Ntim was beaten by Peter Mac Manu in his first attempt for the Chair position.

His second attempt was thwarted by the current Chairman.

However, a very confident Stephen Ntim told Moro Awudu that: “I’m now experienced in the game. I’m more experienced in it. Every move that I make is well calculated to avoid whatever mistakes came about in the previous attempts. That gives me that extra confidence”.
