The Member of Parliament for Berekum East, Hon. Elder Simon Ampabeng Kyeremeh, has expressed his satisfaction with the decision by the government to scrap fuel allowances for government appointees.
He stated that he is pleased with the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and how he is managing the country.
According to Hon. Simon, it is unfair for government appointees to enjoy fuel allowances when ordinary citizens, including teachers, nurses, and other civil servants, pay for their own fuel.
If it’s normal for every Ghanaian to buy fuel, then politicians should do the same. They even buy fuel for their families and girlfriends, so what stops them?
He added that the money saved from scrapping such allowances could be invested in building hospitals and schools, especially in rural areas.
Hon. Simon belief Ofa Anass , saying that politicians are supposed to serve the people—not the other way around.
I will be shocked to hear anyone call this a bad policy. Anyone who says that clearly does not want the development of Ghana but is only thinking about their own stomach.
