Illegal tobacco product hits market

Civil society group, Vision for Alternative Development (VALD,) has given hints over a new illegal tobacco product called ‘shisha’ which has been offered for sale on Ghanaian markets.

And this, according to the group, is being done on the blind side of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA).

The new tobacco product, according to VALD, can mostly be found at bars, restaurants, hotels, beaches and public gatherings in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VALD, Mr. Labram Musah, called on well-wishing Ghanaians to report those who are selling the tobacco product to the police for immediate arrest and prosecution.
