The 2012 presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention, Hassan Ayariga, has declared his intention to contest the 2016 presidential elections.
Ayariga polled 24,617 votes representing 0.22 percent in the 2012 presidential elections.
Speaking to host of MORNING STARR, Kafui Dey on Monday, Ayariga, who said he singularly financed his 2012 election campaign said, he is ready to contest again if given the nod by the PNC.
“If the old fox is not retiring why do you want the young one to retire,” Ayariga wondered.
Ayariga also revealed that he is working on who would be his running mate for the 2016 elections and will soon disclose the person’s identity.
The 2012 PNC flagbearer added that his aim was to rebuild his party, which he says lacks leadership.
“The party lacked leadership after the elections because it was when I was away that we had a NEC meeting after two years. We need to restructure the party. For some time now there have been challenges with the chairman and his leadership and he was not able to organise any NEC meeting.
“The party must be able to stand on its feet, get better-committed people to see how the party moves forward.”
