IGP Summons NDC

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nana Owusu Nsiah has requested a meeting with the executive of the Ashanti Regional NDC at the Police Headquarters in Accra. A letter inviting the NDC party stalwarts led by its Chairman, Nti Fodjour and signed by George Asiamah, a deputy Police Commissioner in charge of the Ashanti Police Command ordered the NDC to honour the invitation on Tuesday, June 24, 2003.

The NDC Executives failed to meet the IGP as scheduled but a source at the Party’s Ashanti headquarters hinted that the executives were preparing to honour the invitation on June 26, 2003.

The letter dated June 20, this year and addressed to Mr Nti Fordjour did not give any specific details about the agenda set for discussions between the police and the NDC.

However the ”Daily Guide” says analysts and observers believe the meeting will deliberate on issues pertaining to the much-publicised and controversial NDC’s ”Kafo didi” demonstration to be staged in Kumasi.

Several attempts by the NDC to hold the demonstration has been put on hold following disagreements between them and the Ashanti Police Administration over security arrangements to ensure a successful organization of the March.
