IGP meets Zongo chiefs in Accra

The Inspector General of Police and members of the Police Management Board have held a meeting with the Greater-Accra council of Zongo Chiefs at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The meeting, which was held on Thursday, was at the instance of the Zongo Chiefs discussed security issues confronting the Zongo communities such as the use of narcotic drugs especially by the youth, chieftaincy disputes among Zongo communities, effective implementation of neighbourhood watch committees and illegal gaming among the youth.

The spokesperson for the Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Baba Issah who expressed these concerns to the Inspector-General of Police called for support from the police to check these social problems in the Zongo communities.

The Inspector-General of Police commended the Zongo Chiefs for taking this initiative describing it as very laudable.

After interacting with other members of the Police management Board, it was agreed that a committee comprising the police and Zongo chiefs be set up to manage issues of law and disorder within the Zongo communities in Greater Accra and other parts of the country.
