Tarkwa, July 20, GNA – Workers of Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine Limited have threatened to go on strike on Monday, July 23, to press home their demand for a 16.5 per cent increase in salary. Mr Rauf Abdul Isahaku, the local Mine Workers Union secretary, told GNA in a telephone interview on Friday that workers supporting the strike were fasting and praying until Sunday as a prelude to the strike. Mr Isahaku said the National Labour Commission would go into compulsory arbitration but the workers would go on strike pending the outcome of the arbitration.
