I worked for my money – PV Obeng

Mr. P.V. Obeng, Special Advisor to Mr. Rawlings in the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and the early years of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regime, told the Weekend Crusading GUIDE yesterday that he had received money from Scancem in the mid 90s.

He, however, maintained that the money he had received was in payment for consultancy services he rendered to the Norwegian cement company.

Mr. Obeng said he provided Scancem with information on the prevailing framework conditions at any given time for running business, and updated them on political changes relating to the government.

He conceded that he was aware of the Asker and Baerum court case, adding that some international journalists had tried to seek his side of the proceedings in the court that concerned him, but he claimed to have told them (journalists) that the case was in court and so wouldn’t comment much on it.
