I will demonstrate against Mahama if he refuses to contest the 2020 elections – Baba Jamal

Baba Jamal, the former member of parliament for Akwatia Constituency in The Eastern Region, has vowed to demonstrate against John Mahama if the former president refuses to contest the 2020 elections.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, Baba Jamal said Mahama was the obvious choice for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and that the party did not have the time to market another candidate to the people of Ghana.

He said if Mahama declined to present himself for the election, he would organise people to demonstrate against him.

“If President Mahama says he is not contesting again, we will demonstrate against him; we will march to his house to demonstrate till he consents to contest for the party because we don’t have any leader apart from him,” he said. “If he doesn’t contest who will contest for us?” he said.

Mahama has so far refused to put himself forward as the flagbearer of the NDC for 2020.

He has urged members of his party to forget about who leads the party and instead work to fix that problems that informed the party’s defeat.
