“I Want A Cow, Gin & Calcio” – Jake Jokes With FM Stations

Minister of Information and Presidential Affairs, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey says he would demand a cow each as a form of placation from each of the radio stations which reported his death without seeking to cross-check their facts. In addition he would demand a bottle of local gin and a piece of white calico.

Mr Obetsebi Lamptey said this during a news conference held by the Minister of Health, Dr Kwaku Afriyie at the conference room of the Ministry of Information on Tuesday. The Information Minister said on a lighter note that in Ghanaian tradition, when someone peddles falsehood about the state of someone’s health, the person is dragged before the Traditional Authorities who will in turn slap penalties on the peddler of the false news.

He failed however to name any radio station that churned the false news about his death at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. There have been media reports that the Information Minister who was undergoing treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is dead.
