I never paid Nana Addo’s presidential filing fee – Council of State Rep

The newly-elected Ashanti regional Council of State representative Nana Owusu Akyaw Brempong has dispelled allegations that he paid the 2016 filing fee of the then Presidential candidate of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the electioneering.

He admitted that he supported the party financially during the elections both at the regional and national levels.

Nana Brempong is alleged to have paid the filing fee of the new President.

But speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, the Akrofosohene called on the public to disregard such rumour.

‘Its never true that I picked Nana Addo’s nomination forms and paid his filling fee, I am very close to Nana Addo, I got closer to him due to the vision he has for the country, I have supported the party in diverse ways, but I cannot let everything out in the public domain,’ he explained.

He assured that he will join forces with other representatives of the council as well as the board to offer the President good advise to steer the affairs of the country.

Nana Brempong on Thursday beat the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s Marewehene Baffour Osei Brentuo Hyiaman V in the Council of State elections.

Nana Brempong polled 45 votes whiles the Otumfuo’s favourite Mawerehene had only 5 votes.
