I have never endorsed Sir John – Buaben Asamoa

General Secretary Aspirant of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has denied endorsing incumbent fellow aspirant Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie.

Buaben Asamoa’s campaign team, in a statement, said reports claiming he has dropped out of the race in favour of Owusu Afriyie are “a bogus fabrication of facts frivolously and mischievously crafted to mislead members of this great Party, who wish to see it return to power in 2016.”

The team said: “We wish to assure our many supporters that Mr. Buaben Asamoa is very confident of winning the General Secretary position on April 12.”

It also denied reports that founder-member Dr Kwame Amoako-Tuffuor has withdrawn his endorsement of the Mr Buaben Asamoa.

The group said the Dr. Amoako-Tuffour’s support for Buaben Asamoa is “unconditional and absolute”.

Buaben Asamoa will have to nudge off Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John, and another contender, Kwabena Agyapong, to win the position.
