I am not a manifesto member of Akufo-Addo – Ace Ankomah

Private legal practitioner Ace Ankomah has rubbished a front page story by the Ghanaian Lens newspaper edited by Mr. Kobby Fiagbe that he is working with the opposition NPP.

The Ghanaian lens newspaper on Friday published a story with the banner headline “Meet Akufo-Addo’s Manifesto Team”. According to the story, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has settled on Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, Nana Asante Bediato, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe and Messer Ace Ankoma as his manifesto team for the 2016 elections.

But in an interview with Moro Awudu on the XYZ Breakfast Show, the legal luminary, and leading member of OccupyGhana, Mr. Ankomah described the story as baseless, rubbish and speculative. He added, although he doesn’t read the Ghanaian lens newspaper, he finds it quite reprehensible for that newspaper to fabricate such a story.

The story also indicated that trusted sources within Akufo-Addo’s network say the manifesto team has been assigned various responsibilities and members are expected to submit their work to the presidential candidate, through Gabby, by the end of the year.

However, Messer Ankoma debunked the erroneous assertion and questioned the journalistic standard and principles of the editor, and asked him to check his facts before publishing stories.

The editor, Kobby Fiagbe who was on the other line during the interview, maintained the story is credible because he has cross-checked his facts before publishing the story.
