In a clear manifestation of the disunity, rancour and bad blood within the rank and file of the NPP, especially, among the party’s presidential hopefuls, Nana Akufo Addo, one of the presidential aspirants, has boasted that nobody has been more supportive of the NPP than him since the party’s inception.
“Every problem of the party, from the repair of telephones to the purchase of common pins, are directed to me.
“Agyenim Boateng (former general secretary of the NPP), is even alive to testify to what I am saying”, Nana Akufo Addo was reported as saying this while addressing the press in his campaign office at Kanda in Accra. GRi
In another front page story, the Ghana Palaver says its scouts have uncovered plans by Mr J.A. Kufuor, an NPP presidential aspirant, to nominate Mrs Gladys Asmah, MP for Takoradi, as his running mate if he wins the party’s presidential slot at the October 24 congress at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The paper says sources close to Mr Kufuor disclosed that a secret meeting on the issue has been held at the instance of the presidential aspirant. GRi
