Husbands must meet wives needs

Madina, June, 22, GNA.- The 20th Greater Accra annual rally of the Majlis Ansarullah or Ahmadyya Muslim Elders Association, has ended with a call on husbands to endeavor to meet the needs of their wives in order to avoid domestic violence.

Mr Ibrahim Iddrisu, a Senior Manager at the Agricultural Development Bank Headquarters, said it was essential to enhance harmony but added they could do so according to their capabilities.

He was speaking on the theme 93Living in harmony with our wives, a call to the Ansarullah” at Old Ashongman near Madina on Tuesday.

Mr Iddrisu said some of the things they could do included the provision of food, clothing and shelter as well as catering for their health. They should also have time for their partners during which they could discuss the upbringing of children and matters bordering extended families.

He appealed to them to tolerate wives who were in full business, schooling or in other employment, especially when they could not perform their house duties as expected due to such engagements.

He also stressed the need for them to be sincere all the time in dealing with their wives especially in the presence of their wards, otherwise they could lose their confidence.

Alhaji Maulvi M. Yusuf Yawson, First Deputy Head of the Ahmadyya Muslim Mission, said as true fathers 93our wives and children should see special qualities in us so that they would emulate as well”.

In a welcome address, Alhaji Majeed Saeed, Greater Accra Regional President of the Association, called on members to contribute financially and in kind towards the propagation of Islam.

He urged them to live in peace wherever they might be.
