Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – Hundreds of people gathered at the Alajo 1 JSS polling station A and B at about 1720 hours in anticipation of the provisional results of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections held earlier in the day.
However, the polling agents and the Presiding Officer of the Electoral Commission were busily trying to tally the ballot papers used and to fill the necessary forms.
The crowd started shouting in anger but the officials insisted they had to deal with the paper work before they start the vote counting. At the ATTC polling stations there were a sizeable number of people waiting in queue to cast their vote as at 16.47 hours. Mr Aikins Simon, the presiding officer said they will make sure they attended to all the people in the queue before they round up. He said about 851 people had already cast their vote. At the Sarbah Road International and JSS, Mr. Emmanuel Agboada, Presiding Officer said the voting had been very successful. GNA observed that there were no people left at the voting ground except the polling agents and the EC officials who were waiting till 1700 hours to count the votes.
At the Central Mosque polling station A, there was a long queue as at 1700hours, however the polling station B had no voters and had rounded up.
Mrs Rosemund Appiah Presiding Officer said they would wait for the A polling station to end voting before they count and declare their results. The story was not different at the GPRTU polling station A and B where the B station had rounded up with about 617 voters while people still queued to vote at the polling station A. All polling stations visited were within the Ayawaso central constituency.
At the Kotobabi 5 and 6 school the provisional results for the parliamentary candidates were as follows:
