Houston Celebrates Ghana@56

The Ghana Association, Houston celebrated Ghana’s 56th Independence celebration in Houston Texas and the Highlight of the night which created a lot of excitement was an Azonto Competition .The Association crowned Mr Azonto won by David Acquaye an engineer in Houston and Priscilla Antwi a college student in Houston, Texas. ****

The newly elected President of the Ghana Association in Houston Christiana Asiama- Akuamoa (Top left in the picture) in her speech said that the Theme of the celebration is “Making a difference in the community . This requires that we focus on the youth by organizing various events throughout the year”. The activities include recognizing the 2013 graduates at the organization’s annual picnic and an educational/career seminar this summer to help promote and advance its members and our youth on educational and career opportunities in the United States. The Association will also set up a scholarship fund which will award a yearly scholarship starting at the next Independence Celebration of $1000 each to two college bound students.** **

The Celebration was attended by over 400 including the Honorary Consul General in the Unites States Jack Webb and his wife Diane.****
