House-help arrested with stolen car

Kudzo Nyuiadzi Ametepe, a Togolese national, has been arrested by the Aflao Police with his employer’s stolen saloon car.

“Forgive me, please forgive me, it was a Nigerian and Ghanaian friend who advised me to steal the car, I will not repeat it”, Ametepe pleaded in tears rolling on the ground when he came face–to-face with his employer, Dr Furi Oduran, a Nigerian businessman.

His accomplice, one Darius Agbla, a fellow Togolese and colleague house-help to Dr Oduran is on the run.

Mr. Emmanuel Odonkor, the Aflao District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency that Ametepe and Agbla were employed by Dr Oduran in Nigeria two years ago.

He said on March 4 the two conspired and stole Dr Oduran’s new Toyota Tundra saloon car with registration number LSR 437 – AC when Dr. Oduran travelled.

Mr Odonkor said Ametepe and Agbla brought the car to Ghana in search of a buyer when they could not get one in Togo.

He said at about 0300 hours on March 20, a Police patrol team spotted the car near the Ghana/Togo border with Ametepe behind the wheels and arrested him on suspicion.

Mr. Odonkor said during interrogation Ametepe admitted his crime and gave the police Dr. Oduaran’s cell phone number and he was contacted.

Meanwhile Ametepe who pleaded not guilty to possessing a stolen car has been remanded by an Aflao Circuit Court until April 3.

The court presided over by Mr. Francis Obiri, has released the car to Dr Oduran after he provided documentary proof of his ownership of the vehicle. **
