Hohoe marks crossroads shooting incident

Hohoe, Feb 28, GNA – Security agencies and para-military organizations in the Hohoe District staged a three-hour route match through the main streets of the town to mark the February 28 cross-road shooting incident and ushered in activities for the 50th anniversary celebrations in the district.
They comprised the police, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs Excise and Preventive Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Garages Association and the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union. The colonial police gunned down Corporal Attipoe, Sergeant Adjetey and Corporal Odartey Lamptey at the Castle crossroads when they and other ex-servicemen were going to there to present a petition to the governor.
Addressing the contingents later at the forecourt of the Hohoe Divisional Police Station, Mr Kwami Avega-Kamabla, Presiding Member of the District Assembly, said the success or otherwise of the Ghana@50 celebrations hinged on the conduct, vigilance and the proficiency of the security apparatus.
He told them to rise above reproach and deal citizens who might want to cash-in on the occasion to commit crime. Deputy Superintendent of Police Stephen Antwi-Boasiako, Hohoe District Police Commander, commended the officers, men and women for their prompt response to national call aimed at steering the 50th anniversary, into perspective. 28 Feb 07
