Hit and run driver remanded in prison custody

Winneba (C/R) Sept.19, GNA – A hit and ran driver who allegedly knocked down a student of the University of Education Winneba was last Thursday remanded into prison custody by a Winneba Magistrate Court. The plea of Amani Quansah, the driver was not taken but remanded into prison custody to re-appear on September 20. Police Chief Inspector Williams Akanah told the court Presided over by Mr. Yakubu Fatau that on the night of September 15, Quansah knocked down Mr. Godfred Amevegah, the student who was returning from lectures but failed to stop.

Police Chief Inspector Akanah said Quansah switched off his lights in an attempt to escape but rather ran into a big culvert and damaged his vehicle. He said Quansah was later arrested after the accident and after investigations charged with the offence. 19 Sept.05
