Hit and run driver kills child

Agbondo (VR), Nov 20, GNA – A hit and run driver killed a four-year old girl at Agbondo, a farming community near Agotime-Kpetoe last Friday.

The driver, who was driving a passenger Toyota Hiace minibus between Aflao and Ho was however, intercepted at Ave-Dakpa some 15 kilometres from the spot of the accident, following a phone call to the Police.

The Police told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the driver whose name they did not give was being held for interrogation. The Police source said it was easy to trace and intercept the vehicle because of the bold inscription “Forgive” on it, which was cited by the caller.

Emefa Hateka, was said to be crossing the street on her way home after playing with friends at the other side when the bus, which eye witnesses said was moving at breakneck speed hit and killed her instantly.

When the GNA got to scene of the accident at about 1805 hours, agitated bystanders lined the street while some youth directed traffic away from the smashed body of the victim, which was still lying on the street.
