Help protect the dignity of Manhyia – Otumfuo beg journalists

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appealed to journalists in the Ashanti region to help protect the dignity of the Manhyia Palace.

According to him, although the Palace is grateful for the tremendous attention being given it by journalists in the region, there is the need for some circumspection as far as issues regarding the palace are concerned.

The plea by the Asante Monarch comes on the back of a recent rift between journalists in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi and the palace over some maltreatment claims.

Journalists in the region resolved to boycott activities at the palace after a sentinel allegedly manhandled a reporter during an event at the palace.

Although the matter has been resolved, the Otumfuo at a meeting with the media Thursday reiterated his remorse over the incident and gave the assurance that the palace will continue to work in harmony with the media in the region.

He said the palace is aware that it requires the help of the media to propagate its achievements to the rest of the world.
