Heavy downpour causes flooding in some parts of Takoradi

Anaji (W/R), March 30, GNA- Many houses and streets within the Anaji Estates, Brigade and Namibia, all suburbs of Takoradi were flooded after a three-and-half hours downpour on early Tuesday morning.

Most of the inhabitants could be seen scooping water out of their rooms while others were creating water banks to reduce the pressure and the flow of water. Some residents attributed the flooding of the area to the fencing of some houses that were previously not fenced. Additionally, many houses have been built in waterways of and occupants of these houses could not help but flee to safer areas.

The Anaji-Namibia road was submerged under water and made its use difficult and dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers. Some taxi drivers plying the route took advantage of the situation and charged exorbitant fares.
