Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford says his side may not have brought in “any extraordinary player” ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Hearts of Oak, but insists they have the quality and spirit to compete.
Speaking ahead of the 2025 Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Cup, Hayford said the match at the Accra Sports Stadium would be a test of teamwork rather than individual brilliance.
“We have the team to face Hearts of Oak on Sunday,” he stated, exuding quiet confidence.
The fixture, part of the annual Homowo celebrations, kicks off at 5pm and is expected to draw passionate fans from both camps. Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, will be looking to assert dominance, while the Lions will aim to prove that grit and strategy can overcome star power.
The Homowo Peace Cup has become a symbolic fixture promoting unity and community spirit through football, with this year’s edition promising a lively and competitive spectacle.
