Health Alert!

The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has warned the public about some unregistered brands of toothpaste on the market whose safety, quality and efficacy it says it cannot guarantee. A press release issued by the Board said it is taking immediate steps to remove all unregistered brands of toothpaste from the market.

It advised all importers and dealers in toothpaste whose products have not been registered to contact any of the Board’s offices “to ensure the registration of their products in accordance with PNDCL 305B.” The Board stated that some of the registered brands are Angola, Aquafresh & Minty, Charlie, Nentazyme, Dr Flesh Red Gel, Close Up, Macleans Freshmint and Sensodyne Mint.

A separate list provided by the Board also mentioned Colgate Herbal, Crest, Dentax, Qyz, Pray, Freshdent and Macleans Milk Teeth as some of the unregistered brands. The full list of both the registered and unregistered brands will be published in the Times this week.
