Hardworking NFED Facilitators Rewarded

Winneba (C/R), Nov. 27, GNA-Fifty-Three facilitators in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District branch of the Non Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education, were on Friday given various awards for their hard work, commitment, dedication, and continued sacrificial duty towards the promotion of Government’s mass education functions in the rural communities.

The awards, worth over 100 million cedis included, bundles of roofing sheets, sewing machines and bicycles. Speaking at a meeting that preceded the presentation ceremony, Mr Peter Derey, Awutu-Effutuy-Senya District Co-ordinating Director, advised the award recipients to work harder to ensure total attainment of the objectives of the NFED.

Mr. Derey assured facilitators and people in the district of Government preparedness to give the NFED the required push in the coming years to enable more of the less fortunate citizens with no formal education to benefit from the programme.

He said the implementation of the Non Formal Education Programme calls for more sacrifices from the facilitators to bring about the desired results, adding that it was the appreciable feats chalked by the Sunyani branch some years back that influenced the Government to sustain its interest in the programme. Mr Derey was optimistic that the awards given to the selected hard working facilitators in the district would inspire their colleagues who abandoned their work to rededicate themselves for the task ahead to enable them to win awards in future.

He gave the assurance that the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly would offer the district secretariat of the NFED all the needed support and co-operation to make it succeed in the execution of its functions. Mr Derey was happy to learn from Mr. K. Amoateng the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Co-oprdinator of the NFED, and Mr K. Nkrumah, a supervisor of the department that the Winneba secretariat of the NFED had been able to train

two men, aged between 30 and 35 years, with one gaining admission to a tertiary institution and the other, employment with the NFED. Mr Derey charged district directors of the organization to step up their good achievements to carve an enviable image for the NFED and the District Assembly. Nana Sackey, the Agona District Co-ordinator of the NFED, praised the award winners for maintaining faith with the government and directors of the NFED during difficult times and advised them to sustain the spirit.
