Hanna Tetteh: Adams Mahama’s killers must be prosecuted

Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh has called for the arrest and prosecution of those behind the killing of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama.

Mr Mahama died at the Bolgatanga hospital Thursday after he was attacked with acid by some unknown individuals.

He was buried Saturday in accordance with the Islamic tradition.

One person has so far been arrested in connection with the matter.

In a tweet, the former trades minister said although she does not want to comment on the internal affairs of the opposition party, the police must quickly act in order to avoid a culture of impunity.

“Those responsible for the attack on Chairman A. Mahama should be prosecuted so a culture of violence & impunity isn’t allowed to take root.

“I won’t comment on the NPP’s internal issues, but the police have to quickly & thoroughly investigate this matter.

“There may be cases where the public isn’t aware of the outcome of investigations/prosecutions but that must change. We need the rule of law,” she noted.
