GTDA presents relief items to displaced victims

Kpatia-Ziseri (U/E), July 18, GNA – The Garu-Tempane District Assembly on Tuesday presented some relief items to 167 people who were displaced during a rainstorm that hit the Kpatia-Ziseri community last month.

The items included 9 packets of roofing sheets, 12 packets of roofing nails, 34 woollen blankets, 20 poly mats, 40 plastic plates, 20 plastic buckets and 50 plastic cups.

Making the presentation the District Chief Executive, Mr Emmanuel Syn-net Asigri, said the assembly was worried about the calamity that befell the community but it did not have the capacity to respond because the assembly did not have funds.

He said the regional office could also not respond quickly because it was saddled with demands from other parts of the district since the rainstorm affected all the districts in the region.

The regent of Kpatia-Ziseri, Naba Shaibu Amadu, thanked the assembly for responding to their appeal and promised that measures would be put in place to check the re-occurrence of rainstorms. Mr Asigri later inspected the local primary school that was badly affected by the rainstorm and had been renovated at a cost of 166 million cedis.
