GSTS emerged regional champion of NCCE constitutional game contest

Sekondi, Nov 19, GNA – The Ghana Secondary Technical School won the ninth Regional Constitution Game contest with 120 marks and 24 points to beat Baidoo Bonsu Senior High School who also scored 75 marks with 18 points.

The School would represent the Western Region in the National Constitution game slated for April 2011 as part of the celebration of the Annual National Constitution Week of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

Mr Kojo Tito Voegborlo, NCCE Commission’s Secretary, said the Constitution game contest was introduced to whip up the interest of the youth in constitutional matters.

He said civic education must feature in all aspects of national life as a vehicle that would enable the citizenry to participate in the development affairs of the country.

Mr Voegborlo said the civic club introduced by the commission in second cycle schools had helped in knowledge sharing on constitutional matters and lauded patrons of the club for sustaining the civic club to promote responsible citizenship.

Mr Kusi Aboraah, Regional Director, NCCE said it was the commission’s mandate to inculcate into the citizenry the tenets of the 1992 constitution and therefore designed the constitution game to make the learning of the constitution easy and interesting. Mr Kobina Prah Annan, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, called for the re-introduction of civic education in schools.
