Gruesome murder at Statesfarm

Tarkwa (W/R), March 31, GNA – The Tarkwa police has arrested a 50 year-old farmer Amuzu Diko, a native of Dzodze for killing Kwame Amega alias Konkode at a cottage called states farm, near Audio, in the Tarkwa Nausea Municipality.

Amuzu confessed killing Konkode on Sunday night. He inflicted seven cutlass wounds on Konkode and left the body in the bush. Assistant Superintendent of Police Nelson Ashman, of the Tarkwa Police Station told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday that Amuzu, a palm wine tapper left his work in the care of the deceased and one Kwaku Charles, to tap and distil Akpeteshie in his absence, while the suspect attended his sister’s funeral at Dzodze for two weeks. Amuzu’s wife Xebidzi and two kids were also left at the cottage. ASP Asamani said last Sunday, Amuzu arrived at Awudua where he met Charles and questioned why he was not at the distillery site. Charles said he had left the site because of a problem which he did not explain.

Amuzu proceeded to Statesfarm in the evening, where he met his wife and children and the decease. He drank some Akpeteshie with the deceased and they had dinner together. After the dinner, ASP Asamani said, Amuzu asked Konkode to brief him on what transpire during his absence, but Konkode rather insisted on hearing about Amuzu trip.

This resulted in a hot argument culminating in a fight and in the process the deceased squeezed Amuzu’s testicles and would not let go when Amuzu shouted for help.

Amuzu’s wife managed to separate them and later left to bed. When Konkode decided to retire to his cottage, Amuzu chased and inflicted cutlass wounds on him, killing him instantly and left the body in the bush.

At dawn on Monday, one Kwaku Appiah, a hunter came across the body in the bush and reported to the Huniso Unit Committee Chairman who arrested both the hunter and Amuzu.

During interrogation Amuzu confessed killing Kokonde because the deceased squeezed his testicles. Meanwhile the body has been deposited at Tarkwa Government Hospital Mortuary.
