Group in Volta region propose Gladys Asmah as NPP running- mate

Ho, Aug. 1, GNA – Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister of Fisheries, has become the latest to be associated with the search for the presidential running mate of the New Patriotic Party. A group identifying itself as “Some Chiefs, Queen Mothers and Opinion Leaders from the Volta region” on Thursday urged the hierarchy of the NPP and its presidential aspirant, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make Mrs Asmah his running mate.

In a statement the group said “we were all witnesses to the hard work and dedication exhibited by Mrs Asmah when she was a Minister of the Ministry of Children Women’s Affairs, she was able to empower women in all parts of the country”. “At the Ministry of Fisheries where she was the Minister, she continued to perform wonderfully”, the group said. Nene Nuer Keteku II, Konor of Agortime and spokesman for the group, said though the 1992 Constitution prohibits some groups of people in the country from engaging in active partisan politics they nevertheless must make their voices heard on the challenge of good leadership of the country as citizens.
