Group calls on Ghanaians to condemn Israeli aggressions

Accra, April 26, GNA – The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), a political pressure group has called on Ghanaians to unreservedly condemn the assassination of Hamas leader, Dr Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi, by the Israelis.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Barzini Tandoh, Secretary of the group, said the killing of Dr Rantissi demonstrates “the incurable thirst for Palestinian blood that now drives Israel’s colonial project in the Middle East.”

The statement said Israeli Premier Ariel Sharon’s entire history has been dedicated to the bloodiest and most extreme ruthlessness for achieving a “Greater Israel” and that he has no intention of giving up occupied Palestinian lands or negotiating seriously with the Palestinians.

It said the consecutive assassination of two Palestinian leaders – Sheikh Yassin and Rantissi – was a further proof of the ruthlessness of Sharon and the Israel State.

These assassinations would be inconceivable without the backing of the United States, the statement said, adding, “that backing was too evident in the 48 hours that preceded this murder.”

The Statement also called on the government to totally condemn the assassinations and give unconditional support to the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli colonialism.

It said the pro-Israel policy of the United States has always been built on armed might, militarism, violence, racial tensions and racial separation between Arabs and Jews.

The systematic racism is also being used to portray Arabs as inferior and lesser humans, thereby justifying the extremes of violence and oppression used against Palestinians, the statement added.

It further noted that the Palestinian struggle for freedom and justice is therefore important if the world’s ordinary peoples are to find a democratic solution to the treats on the world scale and in their own societies. 27 Apr. 04
