GPRTU donates cement Mankessim Sec Tech

Mankessim, Sept. 17, GNA – The Mankessim Ghana Private Road Transport Union has donated 50 bags of cement worth three million cedis to the Mankessim Secondary Technical School to build a wall round the school to ward off encroachers.

The donation was made by the number one, two, three and five branches of the Union in response to an appeal by the school authorities.

Mr Oscar Kweku Appiah, Executive Chairman of the Mankessim Council of the Union, speaking at a ceremony in the School, said the donation formed part of the Union’s social responsibility to the community they operated in.

Mr Appiah, who is also the Chairman of the Number Three branch and Assembly Member for the Edumadze-Twafo Electoral area of the Mfantseman District Assembly, said the Council was formed to harness resources of the unions for the development of the community.

Ms Agnes Hawkson, Headmistress of the School, thanked the Council for the prompt response to the appeal and gave the assurance that the cement would be used for the purpose it was donated.

The headmistress expressed concern about the rate of encroachment and said if immediate action was not taken the school would not have land for future expansion and appealed to the citizens of the area and the school’s parent-teacher association for help.
