Jirapa, Sept. 10, GNA – Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Deputy Minster of information, said at Jirapa, on Thursday that government was putting in place a long-term savings scheme that would replace the CAP 30 Pension Scheme.
The Scheme, which has received cabinet accent, would be laid before parliament for approval.
Mr Asamoah announced this when he interacted with workers’ in the Upper West Region, as part of his two days official visit to the Region. He said although the defunct Cap 30 scheme, was more beneficial than the Social Security and National Insurance Trust scheme, it was difficult for the Government to revert to it, due to financial constraints.
The Deputy Minister said the long -term savings scheme, would allow beneficiaries to acquire houses and other social amenities.
The common problems of the workers were lack of transport; telecommunication and accommodation facilities, to be able to out carry out their official assignments, especially in the rural areas.
The communities also appealed for the provision of water facilities, to enable them carry out their agricultural activities during the off- season, to help stem the rural- urban drift.
