Cape Coast, Sept. 8, GNA – The Central Regional Coordinating Council and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly have issued a joint statement to highlight some of the projects executed under the Mills Administration in the Cape Coast Metropolis and surrounding communities.
The statement, signed by the Regional Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ike Afenyi Donkor, said, 93Cape Coast has had its fair share of the national cake and that more projects were in the pipeline to fulfill the President’s Better Ghana Agenda for all.”
The statement, it said, was in response to criticisms describing the present Administration’s performance in Cape Coast as a “No Show.”
It said through the President’s intervention, the clinical teaching centre and students’ pavilion for the University Of Cape Coast School Of Medical Sciences was constructed at $1.5 million.
Additionally, a diagnostic centre and medical students’ hostel are under construction at the cost of $5.2 million at the Central Regional Hospital to upgrade it to a teaching hospital.
Other projects are teachers’ bungalows at Asinadze and Nyinasin, nurses quarters at Effutu and Nkanfoa and a community center at Amamoma, all valued at GH¢786,848.
It said the Government through the Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM), had awarded a GH¢1.2 million contract for the construction of the Museum of Black History.
On educational facilities, it said, a number of unit classroom blocks, administration blocks, libraries, dormitories and science laboratories have been constructed for Senior High Schools with about 4,000 mono desks and 230 bunk beds.
It also listed a number of completed road projects and bridges, and the renovation of Cape Coast Town Hall with a new police station at Kotokuraba, which has been given a pick-up vehicle to facilitate the work of the Metro Police Command.
A Health Post at Akotokyir, a maternity ward at Effutu, a Science Resource Center for Cape Coast and market sheds at Kakumdo and Ankaful, have all been completed, while market shed projects for Brebedze, Effutu Koforidua and Ekon are on-going, said the statement.
It stated that that Government was fully aware that the stadium and the Kotokuraba market were major projects that were very dear to the hearts of the people of Cape Coast, assuring that they would be executed soon.
