Gov’t communication team members not on salaries – Okudzeto

Deputy Minister of Information Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah has denied allegations that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a pay list for members of its communication team.

The aspiring Member of Parliament for North Tong said members of the communication team provide their services voluntarily.

“I have been delegated by my boss to chair the government’s communication team and I can tell you authoritatively that there is no pay list… It is sacrificial. There is no salary or allowance to it,” he explained.

He said all those who are speaking on behalf of government are already working and therefore do not have to be put on any remuneration.

Mr. Ablakwah who was speaking on a public forum in Tamale also denied that Mr. Kwesi Pratt talks for the government.

According to Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa, Kwesi Pratt has always been an activist who stands for what he believes in has never been on the pay roll of the government.

“He was on Metro TV before the NDC won power; at that time was he representing the government of the NDC? He has not left the CPP and all of these are attempts to demonize him,” he said.

He said the allegation is “so absurd” and must be treated with the contempt it deserves.
