Mr Mike Hammah, deputy Minister of Roads and Transpot, has said that the government’s commitment to the development of the country is demonstrated by the provision of “the numerous development projects and amenities”. Mr Hammah said this at the weekend in a speech read for him at the annual Akwambo festival of chiefs and people of Lower Bobikuma in the Agona district of the Central region. He said because roads play a significant role in the socio- economic development of the country, the government has plans to rehabilitate a number of roads throughout the country to ensure the effective movement of goods and services. The deputy minister announced that a number of roads in the Central region have been awarded on contract for resurfacing, and these include the Bobikuma-Nyakrom, and Bobikuma-Kuntanase roads. Mr Samuel Adu-Yeboah, District Chief Executive for Agona, urged the people to rekindle their communal spirit and help develop the town since the government alone cannot do so.
