Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Friday said government will continue to collaborate with all religions to achieve a common objective of peace, progress and prosperity.
He gave the assurance at a thanksgiving prayer session of orthodox muslims to mark Ghana’s 55th independence anniversary celebrations at Takoradi.
Mr Aidoo said Ghanaians are one people irrespective of their political affiliations and ethnicity and these variations should unite them instead of dividing them.
“Let us, therefore, resolve to be humane with our utterances, especially as we enter into the political campaign period and avoid comments that has the potential to ignite tension and violence in our communities”, he said.
Mr Aidoo said there is an urgent need for tolerance, respect and consideration of all views, beliefs and cultures and advised the youth in the “Zongos” against turning themselves into “Macho-men” and being used by self-seeking politicians to wreak havoc in the run-up to the election.
He urged Muslim leaders to educate their people on the biometric registration exercise because “it is imperative for eligible voters to register and have a say in the destiny of the country.”
