Government To Withdraw Some Ambassadors

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang, says that new administration of President Kufour will be forced to dispense with the services of some Ambassadors currently serving at some of the Country’s Diplomatic Missions.

Speaking at an interview on JOY FM’s Super Morning Show, he said some of the Ambassadors and envoys are political appointees of the former NDC government, who should have made things easier for the new administration by quitting honourably instead of waiting to be fired.

He added that the ministry of foreign Affairs has so far received just a little over 40 out of the about 1,700 diplomatic passports issues to Ministers, political appointees and diplomats by the previous government.

He explained that since diplomatic passports are issued for specific purposes, they ought to be returned to the ministry after the purpose for which they were issued have been served.
