Government to streamline activities of seven BOST depots

Bolgatanga, June 18, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Armah Buah, Deputy Minister of Energy, has expressed his Ministry’s readiness to streamline the operations of the seven Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST)in the country. He said the Bolgatanga depot which is a strategic stock location would become functional from July to August.

Mr Buah gave the assurance during his visit to Bolgatanga depot. He said the inspection tour to the various BOST installations had become necessary due to the numerous challenges confronting the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) in terms of fuel shortage and frequent fire outbreaks. The Minister said the BOST depots are billed to supply petroleum products to Mali, Burkina-Faso, Niger and other neighbouring countries. Mr Buah noted that BOST had made the necessary business arrangement with TOR to make available enough petroleum products for storage. The Bolgatanga BOST Depot Manager, Mr Fred Ayarkwa said the facility has the capacity to procure and store about 34.5 million litres of diesel and two million litres of petrol and effectively manage the distribution of the products.

He expressed the hope that when the installation become functional, it would help address some of the challenges facing fuel companies in the Upper East Region.

The Managing Director of BOST, Mr Yaw Akoto said the limited liability Company is poised to deliver its mandate in ensuring that all the depots are given the needed attention they deserve. 18 June 10
