Government secures $10million for Ho University

President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday announced that government has secured $10million for the expansion of facilities at the Ho University of Health and Allied Sciences.

He said the Brazilian government has also approved $240 million for the execution of the Eastern Corridor roads which cut across the Volta and Northern regions.

President Mahama announced this when he address a durbar of chief and people of Ho as part of his one-day tour of the region.

His tour, which also took him to Sogakope, Dabala, Keta, Angloga and Denu afforded him the opportunity to thank the people of the region for their contribution towards the funeral rites of late President Mills.

He was accompanied by Akua Sena Dansua, Minister of Tourism, Joe Gidisu, Minister of Roads and Highways, Dzifa Attivor, Deputy Minister of Transport, Edward Doe Adjaho, First Deputy Speaker, among others.

President Mahama appealed to all Ghanaians to conduct their election campaign peacefully devoid of violent clashes that has bedeviled other African Countries over the years.

He said late President Atta Mills stood for peace and tolerance and it was therefore important for all Ghanaians to maintain those values for the unity and development of the country.

He said the visit of 13 Heads of State and 54 representatives at late President Mills funeral indicated that Ghana has risen high above her peers in the international community and there was the need for Ghanaians to live up to that image.

Togbe Afede XIV, President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs said his outfit in collaboration with the Regional Coordination Council would launch $120 million Agricultural Development project.

He said the Volta region has established the Regional Development Agency to facilitate agricultural and other development project that would be initiated.

Togbe Afede called on the people to support the Sea Defense project initiated by government to protect the southern areas of the region from sea erosion.
