Government releases feeding grants to SHSs

The Northern Regional Minister Abdallah Abubakari has directed heads of second cycle institutions in the region to liaise with their respective banks to ensure the swift release of feeding grants to pay for food supplies.

According to him, government has made available the money but it is now left with the banks to credit the accounts of the respective schools.

It would be recalled that there were reports of an imminent closure of government-assisted second cycle institutions in the three regions due to the delays in the payment of feeding grants which is in arrears of almost a year.

But Mr Abdallah Abubakari announced the release of feeding grants at a handover ceremony of 20 buses and eight pickups to the various colleges of education in the region.

He also asked the heads of institutions to check their various accounts giving the assurance that government will not renege on its promise to ensure the delivery of quality education in the country hence the need for the teachers and various institutions to collaborate with the government.
