Government Commended For Upper/West Roads

Sombo (U/W), – 11 June Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister, has commended the government for the good network of roads in the region which makes it easy for people to travel. He said although only six per cent of the road network in the region is tarred, it is one of the best in the country in terms of easy connections. The Regional Minister made this observation after inspecting more than 10 road projects in the region. The projects which are either solely funded by the government or with the assistance of the World Bank are made up of trunk and feeder roads and highways. Their total contract value is more than five billion cedis. Work on the trunk and feeder roads involves construction of culverts, re-gravelling and in some cases, re-shaping of the roads.
