Over seven towns in the Gomoa Central Constituency have expressed their displeasure about frequent power outages in the communities recently.
They have therefore appealed to the Agona Swedru branch of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to reverse the situation before they lose their anger.
The towns are Gomoa Ekroful, Gomoa Benso, Gomoa Akropong, Biseadzi, Achiase, Afransi and Gomoa Obuasi.
They registered their anger in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Gomoa Ekroful.
According to them, the power went off almost every day without any notice served, a situation that had led in the destruction of their electrical gadgets and other appliances.
Mr Kwodwo Davies who spoke on behalf of the communities, said apart from the frequent power outage, low voltage was another problem being experienced in the area.
He said the situation had also affected their small scale businesses which were the only source of livelihood for some people in the area.
Mr Davies wondered why despite the completion of the installation of a new 33 KV sub-station at Agona Swedru, the local communities continued to experience power outages.
The residents appealed to the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to investigate the situation to ensure quality service.
They also appealed to the Minister of Energy to intervene because the people in the affected towns deserved better service.
Mr K. Lartey, Agona Swedru District Engineer of ECG when contacted by newsmen, said no complain of power outage had come to the notice of the company.
He said the ECG cataloged every power outage that occurred and nothing was on record concerning the areas in question.
