Former Deputy Energy Minister K.T Hammond has said he is ready to meet former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Tsatsu Tsikata in court over the ex-gratia controversy that has erupted between them.
Tsikata has filed a writ at an Accra High court against the Adansi Asokwa MP for claiming that he has received an ex-gratia payment from the state agency. He wants the court to stop Mr. Hammond and his agents from continuously spreading what he describes as falsehood about him.
Mr. Hammond in a radio interview revealed that Mr. Tsikata and three other former workers of the GNPC , including his wife Esther Cobbah had been paid an ex-gratia.
The claims were subsequently confirmed by the board of the GNPC who admitted that the monies have indeed been approved for the four.
But the astute lawyer in a statement said he had not received neither the payment of his salary areas nor provident contributions since he left the company in 2001.
He said he has sued Mr. Hammond in order to bring clarifications to the various allegations in the matter.
Speaking to Accra-based Joy FM Monday, the NPP Member of Parliament said he is unfazed by the threats of Mr. Tsikata.
“I had series of calls about the suit yesterday and so I am aware that he is going to court. I have spoken about the approval and the payment of the money and these are statements of fact; I don’t know what is defamatory about that. I will meet him in court, I wish him luck, Good luck to him,” he said.
