GJA and IPR on impostors at functions

Accra, March 18, GNA – The executive bodies of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR) have expressed concern about impostors who present themselves at public functions.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Ms Ajoa Yeboah-Afari, President GJA and Mr Kojo Yankah, President of IPR, Ghana. At a meeting the two bodies agreed that organizers of press conferences, meetings and other functions should ensure that they allowed in only personnel whose media houses have been invited. “Event organisers should insist on picture identity cards of media representatives before any function begins.

Gatecrashers and those, who pose as Reporters, should not be entertained at any function”.

The statement says media houses should ensure that their representatives carried photo ID cards at all times. It says henceforth impostors would be exposed in the media. Event organisers should report the immoral and unethical conducts of Journalist and impostors to either GJA or IPR.

The two bodies also observed that some photographers and photojournalists were in the habit of making albums of events they cover and compelling organisers to pay for them.

The statement warned that it was unethical to impose albums on organisers adding that and concrete agreements should be reached before the albums were compiled.
