Girl Survives Criminal Abortion

Information reaching DAILY GUIDE has it that a 16-year-old form two pupil who nearly lost her life, following a criminal abortion, has been treated and discharged from the Enchi Government Hospital.

The girl (name withheld) was a pupil of Christ the King Junior High School at Mortoso near Enchi in the Western Region, but the suspect is currently on the run.

Speaking in a telephone chat with DAILY GUIDE, an opinion leader from Mortoso, who pleaded anonymity, intimated that the teenage girl was impregnated by a 25-year-old man called Kwame Grumah.

Afraid of the consequences of the pregnancy, Grumah allegedly, gave the girl cytotec pill to take in order to terminate the pregnancy.

When the suspect reportedly realized that the girl was bleeding profusely in his room and could not do anything to save the situation, he left and never returned.

According to the source, the girl was groaning inside the room, when a Good Samaritan rushed her to the Enchi Government Hospital, where the doctor and nurses had to work round the clock to save her life.

Parents of the girl reported the case to the police who conducted a search in the room of Grumah and found a syringe, a bottle of coca-cola drink and a small bottle containing akpeteshie.

Confirming the story, a police source at the Western Regional Police Command in Sekondi said the girl has been discharged from the hospital, but the police were seriously looking for Kwame Grumah, the suspect, to assist in their investigations.
