Dawenya (G/A), Nov. 27, GNA- Mrs Naadu Mills, wife of Professor John Evans Attah Mills, on Friday said the level of poverty Ghanaians were going through, was due to mismanagement and harsh economic policies pursued by the government.
“God did not destine Ghanaians to experience the kind of poverty we see today rather it is the making of people mismanaging the affairs of the country”.
Mrs Naadu Mills who was addressing an NDC rally at Dawenya said it was unfortunate that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had trained people to peddle falsehood and misrepresent issues about the NDC.
She said the only the way current trends of affairs in the country could be halted was for Ghanaians to turn out in their numbers on the day of election and vote the NPP out of office.
Mrs Naadu Mills said NDC in opposition, served the country well by ensuring that the government did not drive the country into economic chaos.
Mr Jerry Acquay-Thompson, former Ga District Chief Executive (DCE) said the rice farmer in Dawenya had been thrown out of business due the exorbitant bills slapped on them for the use of water to irrigate their farms.
“Water bills at the irrigation site, had risen astronomically resulting in the farmers producing at a loss and eventually abandoning the projects”.
Mr E T Mensah, NDC Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram enumerated a number of projects the NDC initiated during the past eight years in office, and which was now being continued by the present government without giving credit to it.
Mr Mensah said since 2001 there has not been execution of any project in his constituency and attributed this to NPP discriminatory tactics towards the NDC.
